Dr. Grace Shields

Dr. Grace Shields is from southwest Michigan where she grew up on a farm harvesting pumpkins and raising beef cattle. She graduated from the University of Findlay in 2018 with a Bachelors in Science. Soon after, she attended Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2023. Dr. Shields’ special interest include nutrition, emergency medicine, and client education.

In her free time, Dr. Shields enjoys everything outdoors, especially, kayaking, hiking, skiing, and gardening. She also spends her time with her dog, Roux, and cat, Ryder. Roux came into the picture at the very beginning of veterinary school by being adopted from a shelter, and Ryder, well, he came along by choosing to jump into her car. They all three love going on adventures together. One activity that Roux does not like participating in is kayaking, but Ryder happily tags along!

Dr. Shields is looking forward to living and working in Indian River as it offers the beautiful outdoors and an amazing community. She is also truly excited to serve and meet the wonderful people and animals of Indian River and the surrounding areas.
